Our client is a leading developer with a focus on hotels and residential properties. They have recently opened their first directly managed hotel and are now seeking an experience General Manager to oversee this property in East London.

As the General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the hotel’s operations, including guest satisfaction, staff management, financial performance, and overall hotel profitability. This leadership role involves ensuring the highest levels of guest service, maintaining brand standards, optimising revenue, and fostering a positive work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on operational efficiency, team development, and delivering exceptional guest experiences working with a branded hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management-

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the hotel, ensuring compliance with brand standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

Guest Experience-

• Lead the team in delivering outstanding customer service, addressing guest concerns, and maintaining a high standard of guest satisfaction.
• Monitor guest feedback and reviews and implement improvements as necessary to enhance the overall guest experience.
• Manage the hotel’s budget, including forecasting, revenue management, and cost control to maximise profitability.
• Prepare and review financial reports, including profit and loss statements, ensuring the hotel meets or exceeds financial goals.
• Monitor and manage the hotel’s performance through key metrics, including occupancy rates, ADR and RevPAR.

Sales and Marketing-

• Collaborate with the sales team to implement local sales strategies, promotional campaigns, and revenue-driving initiatives.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key business clients, travel partners, and community organisations.

Team Leadership and Development-

• Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate hotel staff to deliver excellent service and operational efficiency.
• Conduct performance reviews, create development plans, and foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies related to staff management.

Brand Standards and Compliance-

• Ensure the hotel is in compliance with all brand standards and consistently delivering a premium economy experience to guests.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain operational and service excellence.
• Implement initiatives to enhance sustainability, safety, and quality.

Customer Relations & Community Engagement-

• Act as the face of the hotel in the community, building strong relationships with local stakeholders.
• Handle escalated guest complaints and complex situations to ensure satisfactory resolutions.

Qualifications:

Experience-

• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive management experience in the hospitality industry, preferably within the premium economy or midscale hotel segment.
• Proven track record of successfully managing hotel operations, achieving financial targets, and delivering high levels of guest satisfaction.

Skills-

• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Expertise in financial management, budgeting, and revenue optimisation.
• Knowledge of hotel management software (PMS) and other relevant technology systems.
• Ability to analyse data and implement strategic initiatives for continuous improvement.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
