About us
Founded in 2002, Milton Keynes Lightning are a professional ice hockey club currently playing in the UK s second-tier National Ice Hockey League (NIHL). Based out of Planet Ice Arena in Milton Keynes, we have enjoyed considerable success over the years and carried on that tradition by winning the 2024 NIHL National Cup.
About the role
As the Business Support Administrator, you will play a key role in supporting the General Manager, the Directors and the wider management team with day to day administrative activities. You will be responsible for a wide range of duties to ensure the efficient and smooth running of the business.
The role will be predominantly home-based, however there will be a requirement to be on-site at Planet Ice Arena, as well as visiting team housing, sponsor premises and other locations as and when needed. Our playing season traditionally runs from September through to April the following year. You would be required to work unsociable hours (including some evenings and weekends) depending on league fixtures or other club events. Our home games are usually played on Saturday evenings, although it is highly likely there will be some week-night and Sunday evening games during a season.
Main duties of the role
The key responsibilities will be:
Acting as the first point of contact for all incoming enquiries and responding appropriately via email and social media
Supporting with social media and marketing activities; including scheduling, content creation, engagement, working with third-party agencies etc
Supporting the General Manager with processing tickets sales; including weekly and season ticket management, coordinating VIP bookings and processing general ticketing enquiries
Managing player accommodation; including ongoing property inspections and management, liaising with estate agents, sourcing new accommodation etc
Managing the car fleet and working with our fleet partner to ensure all the vehicles are serviced and maintained properly
Game night activities; including managing front of house, supporting on events, managing the arrival process for VIP and experience groups
Supporting the General Manager with website updates and management as required
Supporting the General Manager with sponsorship management and engagement

Required Criteria
Essential
Extensive administrative experience, ideally within a sporting, events or hospitality environment
Email management experience
Previous experience with social media management and engagement
Strong communication skills
Previous customer service experience
Experience of managing third-party suppliers and partners
Flexibility to work unsocial hours (including weekends/evenings)
Desirable
Previous administration experience within UK ice hockey
Full UK driving license
Previous experience of UK work visa applications and CoS management
